Background Engr Prof Adagbonyin Moses Obiazi was appointed the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Delta, Agbor in March, 2022. He has over 37 years of unbroken service in tertiary education and has served in different capacities in Engineering education, training and practice at local, state, national, continental and global levels. He was elected into the Executive Committee of the Global Engineering Deans Council [GEDC] in August, 2014, becoming the first Dean from Africa to be in the EXCO of GEDC, while in Dec, 2014 he was unanimously made the President of African Engineering Deans Council [AEDC]. He was Chairman of CODET [Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology of Nigerian Universities] [2012-2015]. Born in Agbor, Delta State, Nigeria, Prof Obiazi had his secondary education at Ika Grammar School, Agbor, obtaining the WASC in 1979 with Distinction. His had the B.ENG in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the University of Benin in 1984. He capped it with a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Lagos and a PhD in Electrical Power, Machines and Drives from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. He has been a resident scholar in Ambrose Alli University [AAU] for the past 35years . At AAU, Engr Obiazi has risen through the ranks from Graduate Assistant to a Professor of Electrical Engineering. He has served the institution as Head of Dept, Dean of Faculty and Chairman/Member of over 50 University adhoc committees and panels. At the professional level, Engr Obiazi was elected Chairman, Ekpoma Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) for 5years(1997-2002). During his Chairmanship, the branch won a national merit award as the Most Improved Branch in Nigeria. In 1999, he was made a life member of NSE. He was a member of NSE National Executive Council [1997-2002] and [2012-2015] and has served in several committees of NSE and COREN [Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria] at both national and local levels. He was a prominent member of the team that helped to develop the first-ever COREN-BMAS [Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards] for undergraduate programmes in Nigerian Universities. In 2006, Prof Obiazi was appointed by Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria as a research advisor on sabbatical. Prof Obiazi has supervised hundreds of students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including M.ENG and PhD and has served as Chairman/Member of accreditation team to over 20 universities and polytechnics as well as external examiner to many Universities and Polytechnics. With over 60 publications, Prof Obiazi has attended over 50 national and international conferences and presented papers at conferences in Nigeria, Africa and across many countries of the world such as Benin Republic, Ghana, Morocco, Ethiopia, South Africa, UAE, Germany, Italy, France, USA, Canada, India, China and Australia. In 2022, the Nigerian Communications Commission [NCC] awarded a research grant worth #13m to a research team led by Engr Prof Obiazi.
